Stories from YakutiaHeadless ManIn the late 70s a certain boy lived in a small village near the regional center. He was ten at the time, and was friends with the neighbours' boy Vasya. One morning he woke up and, as always, went to the neighbours' home to play to his friend, but Vasya's mother told him that Vasya got sick and therefore he will not be able to play. The boy went back home, and the following morning his mother told him Vasya passed away. As he was told, the boy suddenly got a terrible headache. Vasya's parents tried to self-medicate all day long and only sent for the doctor to the regional center in the evening (there was only one female doctor in the village, and she was only good for common cold and commonplace injuries). By then the kid was already in a grave condition, the local doctor forbade to transport him anywhere. Therefore Vasya's father left on his car for the city as quickly as he could to bring the doctor back, opting not to wait for an ambulance. They returned late at night, both white as chalk. It turned out that when went back through the woods (about five km from our village), in a rear-view mirror they saw a headless man pursuing them through the moonlight. they saw it both: Vasya's father, and the doctor. They couldn't make out any details from the distance, but both claimed that it was abnormally tall — even without a head it reached two and a half meters. Vasya's father put the pedal to the metal, and their terrible persuer was soon left behind. Having calmed down, the doctor gave Vasya some shots, administered a dropper, ordered to build a stretcher and to carefully bring him to the regional center. The boy died on the way there. It was said that halfway to the city before dying, he, for a short while, half-came to his senses. He could not speak, but kept raising his right hand and pointing a finger somewhere backwards. Remembering their recent encounter, the adults cautiously peered into the night behind car, but saw nothing. Several minutes later the boy died. |
